A bit of background firstMore people are hiking up the bluffs of Devil’s Lake State…

This time of year Devil’s Lake State Park certainly gets busy. It’s a time when some folks start asking for suggestions for quieter places to camp, swim, hike, etc… Well, one option might be White Mound County Park.
White Mound County Park is located near the small village of Hillpoint, Wisconsin. This is a very scenic 35-minute drive from Devil’s Lake State Park. White Mound is also just minutes away from many of the area’s most beautiful and secluded State Natural areas and a short drive from Natural Bridge State Park.
White Mound covers about 1,100 acres and includes a lake, swimming beach, picnic area, campgrounds, and miles of hiking and horse trails.

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
