Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), deployed through MonsterInsights, to understand how visitors use the site. GA4 collects data such as pages visited, time on page, general geographic region (country or city, not precise location), device type, and how you arrived at the site (search, direct, referral).

This data is aggregated and anonymous. We do not see individual visitor identities. We use it to understand which content is most useful, how the site performs on mobile devices, and where visitors come from.

GA4 uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. Data collected by GA4 is processed by Google under their privacy framework. You can learn more at Google’s Privacy Policy.

To opt out of GA4 tracking across all websites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookies

This site uses cookies in the following ways:

  • Analytics cookies (GA4): Set by Google to track page visits and site usage as described above.
  • WordPress functional cookies: Set by WordPress for basic site function. These do not track you across other websites.
  • Third-party embed cookies: Google Maps and YouTube embeds may set their own cookies when those elements load. We do not control those cookies. See the Google and YouTube sections below.

Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality.

Google Maps

Some pages embed Google Maps to display trail locations, parking areas, and driving directions. When a Google Maps embed loads, Google may collect data including your IP address and browser information. This is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not receive this data.

YouTube

Some pages embed YouTube videos. YouTube is owned by Google. When a YouTube embed loads, Google may set cookies and collect data about your interaction with the video. This is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and YouTube’s Terms of Service. We do not receive this data.

External links

This site links to external websites including the Wisconsin DNR, AllTrails, reservation systems, and local businesses. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before submitting any personal information to them.

Advertising and sponsored content

This site displays advertising from local businesses. Ads are served directly — we do not use a third-party ad network, and no behavioral tracking is used to serve ads. Sponsored listings are identified as such on the pages where they appear.
