This Week at Devil’s Lake — June 4th, 2026
Trails are in good summer shape with some trees down around the park from recent storms that can be walked over or around. Poison ivy & Wild Parsnip are out and common along the trails. (Mosquitos and ticks are in full force as well.) Stay on the path. Lots of seasonal wildflowers are in bloom right now to enjoy out there.
One note: with showers and thunderstorms expected through much of Friday, expect muddy conditions by (Saturday, June 6th) morning, particularly on the Steinke Basin Loop and the Uplands trails. Both drain slowly after heavy rain. Plan your footwear accordingly.
The Steinke Basin/Johnson Moraine parking area is closed through early July for reconstruction — if that’s your destination, plan your parking before you arrive. The Steinke Basin trails are also the wettest in the park right now.
