Is there a group discount on vehicle admission passes for a shelter event?

No. The Wisconsin DNR does not offer a discounted day-rate for groups. Bulk orders are limited to full-price 12-month vehicle admission passes, minimum 20 per order, placed by email with the Wisconsin State Parks Store, taking about two weeks to process. Without pre-arranged passes, each guest buys their own daily pass on arrival.

All Devil’s Lake shelter reservations are no longer made directly through the park.

Six shelters, White Pine/TPA, Shagbark, White Oak, Red Cedar, and White Birch on the south shore, and Rock Elm/CCC on the north shore, are reserved through the new reservation system.

General Information

Devil’s Lake State Park has seven shelters on the south shore and two on the north shore. Six shelters are reserved through the new reservation system, and the Red Oak Shelter is reserved separately by email. Two shelters, Tamarack on the south shore and Sugar Maple on the north shore, are open to the public and cannot be reserved. Shelter capacities vary from 40 to 100 people. Shelters are available for rental from mid-April through Columbus Day. From the Tuesday after Columbus Day through mid-April, shelters are not reservable, and restrooms, water, and plowed parking may not be available.

Reserve one of the six online-reservable shelters for a sound system, a slow cooker, or string lights. Outlets are limited and shared at all of them, so plan for light equipment only. Tamarack provides overhead lighting but no outlets. Sugar Maple has no electrical service.

Shelter Rental Rules

Shelter hours are limited to 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. All reservable shelters except White Oak require a key, picked up at the Visitor Center on the north shore after 8 a.m.
The person making the reservation is responsible for general cleanup and care of the facility and for compliance with all applicable laws and rules. Decorations should be temporary and completely removable; staples, pins, paper, and tape must all be removed after use.
The responsible person is liable for any damage done to the shelter during the reserved date.
All visitors must carry out their garbage and recyclables. Please bring adequate bags or containers.
Candles and open flames are not allowed in any of the shelter buildings except in the designated fireplaces.
No tents may be set up outside a shelter without prior approval.
No bands, DJs, or amplified music are allowed.
Pets are prohibited in and around all shelters. Please let your guests know in advance.
Electrical use at all reservable shelters is limited. Outlets are easily overloaded with multiple uses.
Weddings are allowed at Devil’s Lake State Park. Dressing rooms are not available, other than public restrooms.
A shelter key must be picked up and returned at the north shore Visitor Center to unlock all reservable shelter buildings, except the White Oak shelter. The shelter must be locked when finished.

Parking

Vehicle admission passes are required on all motorized vehicles. As of Aug. 19, 2025, rates are:

Daily pass: $13 (Wisconsin plates), $16 (out-of-state), $3 (Wisconsin resident, age 65+)
12-month pass: $28 (Wisconsin plates), $50 (out-of-state), $13 (Wisconsin resident, age 65+)
12-month reduced-rate pass (additional vehicle, same household): $15.50 (Wisconsin), $32.50 (out-of-state)
