Seeley Lake, some 10 miles (15 minutes) west of Baraboo is another of those out-of-the-way locations that can be a treasured find to some, and a waste of time to others. From our point of view, Seeley Lake/Seeley Creek has a lot going for it. The dam is very photogenic, especially in the fall. There’s some good fishing and it’s a quiet place for a picnic if you don’t mind sitting on the ground or an occasionally fish aroma!
Paddling Seeley
For paddlers, the 52 acre, 10 foot deep lake and the creek above offer easily a half day of some quality wildlife watching. The route is simple, launch from the parking lot, paddle as far upstream as you can, then when you have to…. turn back. Usually, depending on how much wildlife you see and where the log jams are, this is a 3-4 hour adventure.
