Originally protected as a bird sanctuary, Honey Creek State Natural Area lies along a portion of Honey Creek, a Class II trout stream that flows to the Wisconsin River. The SNA which is near Leland Wisconsin contains more than 500 species of native plants including 20 species of ferns!

There is a short hiking trail at Honey Creek but it’s been our experience that in early summer it is quickly lost the overgrowth. While Honey Creek is a great spot to find birds of every sort (Over 180 species have been recorded), the price you pay comes in navigating a jungle of tall grass, mosquitos and ticks.
