Devil’s Lake State Park has a long history of human use going back tens of thousands of years. The goal of our Historical Sites Map is to create a reference for people interested in locating historical sites within the park from ancient effigy mounds, to turn-of-the-century hotels and more. This is work in progress so check back now and again while we add to the map. View the map below or click here for a direct link. **

** We’d like to thank Devil’s Lake State Park’s Naturalist, Sue Johansen for her assistance with this project as well as retired park naturalist, Ken Lange & his books: A Lake Where Spirits Live & Ancient Rocks and Vanished Glaciers which have been invaluable in hunting down these locations and sharing their stories.
