If you’re planning to hike at Devil’s Lake State Park this weekend, be ready for mud. While parts of the popular trails are paved, mud is still hard to avoid, including on the East and West Bluff trails. There’s even a nice little waterfall flowing down the top of Potholes Trail right now. Use caution around Devil’s Doorway and other cliff edges that may be slick.
And if you’re heading out to the Uplands, Steinke Basin, Sauk Point, the upper section of Roznos Meadow, or the Johnson Moraine trails, you’ll find plenty of mud there as well—perfect for some good old-fashioned slipping and sliding out there.
Best options to keep your feet dry? Tumbled Rocks and the sidewalk along the south shore. (You might even see the loon from there, too.)
The forecast for our area is predicting rain on and off into the weekend, so it’s not going to dry out too quickly.
