The 2024 deer gun season starts this weekend. Here in Sauk County, hunting of one…
The annual Big Top Parade is set to return to downtown Baraboo, Wisconsin on Saturday, June 8, 2024. This popular event showcases the rich circus heritage of the city, featuring historic wagons, animals, marching bands, and community floats. This year’s theme, “Blast Off,” will be creatively incorporated into each parade entry.
The main parade begins at 11:00 a.m., with various traditional circus parade units and circus-themed entries created by local groups and businesses. Attendees can expect to see an array of circus wagons, marching bands, horses, other animals, and of course, a lively group of clowns. It’s important to note that parking can be an issue in the downtown area during the parade. One option is to park at one of the shuttle points and ride in from there. If you’re staying at the park, we’d also recommend biking in. Here’s a “Family-Friendly Bike Route Map” to get you downtown.
The circus celebration extends throughout the weekend, starting with a circus-themed Concerts on the Square on Thursday evening. On Saturday morning, before the parade, downtown Baraboo will be buzzing with entertainment from marching bands and the Wild Rumpus Circus for children. Following the parade, visitors are encouraged to explore Circus World and attend the “Blast Off” big top show, with performances at 1:15 and 3:30 p.m.
The Big Top Parade offers a unique opportunity to experience the nostalgia and enchantment of the circus while celebrating Baraboo’s historic ties to this beloved form of entertainment. Join the community in this weekend-long event that promises to delight and engage visitors of all ages.

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
