There are so many holiday events these days, that it's nearly impossible (and expensive!) to…
Finally! Fresh Snow! Today we received about 2-3 inches of fresh snow in the Devil’s Lake Region. Everything is white and beautiful again!
Before the snow fell overnight, most of the ground around the park was just brown and frozen, so 2 inches is pretty much the total amount of snow on the ground. This means that it’s not really enough snow for snowshoes, but it’s a good idea to keep your ice cleats handy because there are sections of very slick ice hiding under all this fresh snow. I was out on the Steinke Basin trail this morning and it’s definitely slick in spots!

Enjoy the fresh snow, and as always use good judgment and stay safe out there!
For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
