As we start talking about changing leaves, it's good to note that fall colors are…
If your dog just “can’t” be on a leash, then leave them home. Or better yet, leave them with family or friends before you head to Devil’s Lake State Park. Loose dogs on the trails and beaches cause all sorts of issues every year, and even though your dog is “friendly” it still needs to be leashed.
I don’t think we need to tell everyone all of the official rules here (But if you need them, click here.), we know them, cuz they are pretty much the same everywhere. And understand us, Wisconsin wants to be “Pet Friendly”. There are all sorts of places you can be with your pet at the lake, and there are 2 permitted pet swim areas, and a pet picnic area. (All that info is here too.)
Bottom line? Come. Have fun! But please, please, please just leash your dog.
Oh yeah, and don’t leave poop bags on the trails!
Thank you!
For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
