There are so many holiday events these days, that it's nearly impossible (and expensive!) to…
Join us for a torch-lit night hike at Devil’s Lake State Park this Saturday, January 29th from 6 pm to 8:30 pm to ease your winter cabin fever. Enjoy a hilly, self-guided snowshoe trek or hike a little over a mile-long, torch-lit circuit through the Northern Lights Campground. You’ll have gorgeous views of the night sky and experience the fascinating shadows of the night created by torchlight.
After the hike, warm up by the campfire, enjoy some hot chocolate and roast a s’more or two. We have sizes to fit everyone in your family. There’s some snow on the trail, but you could also hike it too if you don’t want to snowshoe.
Make sure you dress appropriately for the winter weather, including warm, wind-proof, and waterproof layers, depending on conditions.
Where?
Devil’s Lake State Park’s North Shore. Folks will be gathering at the Rock Elm Shelter south of the main parking lot and near the north shore boat landing. Remember, you will need a 2022 Wisconsin State Park sticker for your vehicle.
For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
