December 20, 2024 Fresh Snow Alert! We received approximately 8 inches of snow yesterday through…
Devil’s Lake has frozen over. We’re logging the date as Jan 2nd, 2022, just one day later than last year. It’s important to note that this doesn’t mean that the lake is “safe” to walk or drive on, only that there is some ice on 99.9% of the surface. Park staff does not check the safety of the ice, and when you are out there, you are on your own. We can’t overstress, that it would take some time to get help to you if you needed it out there. So have fun, but be cautious out there.
For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
