Anyone who frequents Devil's Lake State Park knows how special this place is. From its…
Yes, you will still find plenty of great fall colors in the Baraboo Hills and here at Devil’s Lake State Park this coming weekend, however, 2021’s long strange fall color trip is certainly coming to an end.
Sudden cold temperatures this week along with some windy days have trees dropping their leaves quite heavily now in some areas. Some trees, haven’t even bothered to turn color and are dropping green leaves in the frost. Still, though, there is a lot of nice yellow and orange colors on the bluff. The oaks are beginning to take on a mix of deep November orange and purples that still really stand out in the sunlight. You’ll see beautiful views on the East Bluff Trail, the Uplands Trail, and out on Roznos Meadow this weekend.
This weekend temperatures are warming up to around 60F both Saturday and Sunday, so it will be a good time to get out and catch the color that’s out there.
If you want to “drive the color” we’d suggest South Shore road through the park right now. If you can’t do the drive, we did it for you earlier in the week.
For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.

Our WI Chapter of American Pilgrims on the Camino is planning a hike for November there. Wondering if I can include the photo of the red rocks over locking the lake in our advertisements for this hike? It is copyrighted Skillet Creek Media. I don’t want to infringe on copyrights, but would love to include the photo. Thanks.
Certainly. Thanks for asking. Just leave the notice on the photo. 🙂
