Nice View! So this is cool. Our friends over at the Inn at Wawanissee Point…
Over 130 people attended the 2021 Devil’s Lake State Park Full Moon Paddle On Saturday. It was certainly a perfect night for it! Check out some pictures and a short video.
The annual Full Moon Paddle at Devil’s Lake State Park has grown quite a bit over the years to become one of the most popular events at the park. This event is hosted by the Nature Center with the help of some energetic volunteers!
There were so many boats we just couldn’t get everyone rounded up for the group picture. Amazing!
Every year there’s some interesting scuttlebutt of course. This year the most talked about adventure was the rescue of the giant swan! Many of you may know that two regulars to Devil’s Lake often paddle their giant swan floaties around the lake. They didn’t come along on the night paddle, but we did come across them on the way back. One of the swan wranglers had fallen off of their bird and eventually, I towed them in. It’s not easy to get back on a giant swan if you fall off! Smartly, she had her life jacket on, so it didn’t become anything more than a fun story!
Oh, and there there was the guy who called Karen (One of the volunteers.), well, “Karen” for asking them to wear their life jacket which is required on these events. . I’m sure what he meant was, “Thanks to all the volunteers who make this event possible!” And thanks to everyone else for sharing a great evening. By the way, Did you see Jupiter and Saturn bracketing the full moon? How cool was that!??
If you’d like to see more photos from the event, just check out our gallery on Facebook.
For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
