There are so many holiday events these days, that it's nearly impossible (and expensive!) to…
You can expect Devil’s Lake State Park to be busy again this Saturday, July 10th as the park hosts the annual “Dances With Dirt” trail running / marathon event.
Runners will be on most trails east of the lake itself beginning at 5 am. This includes East Bluff Woods Trail, Steinke Basin, Johnson Moraine, the Uplands Trail, and the Sauk Point Trail which connects to Parfrey’s Glen SNA. DWD will be headquartered in Steinke Basin on the field across from the Steinke Basin Parking lot. (This includes the start and finish lines.) You can expect this area to be very busy. (Not a good dog walking day!)
Keep in mind too that Steinke Basin & The Uplands Trail will be muddy due to current rains. Runners will make it well, worse. 😉

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
