Wisconsin's fall colors are amazing, and Devil's Lake State Park is one of the best…
It might still be a while before Wisconsin state parks can host in-person nature programs. Until then, Wisconsin’s District Naturalists have been working on fun new Nature Discovery Kits that you can do outside at home or print out and take along to help keep your family busy while visiting your favorite Wisconsin State Park. Here’s the info…
Where Do I get Them?
Well, we have the first 4 linked below, from there you can visit the #OutWiGo page on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website. Just click here.
What’s In The Kit?
Inside each virtual kit, you’ll find lots of fun things to do while exploring the great outdoors. Every two weeks, there will be a different topic and activities for you to do outside-whether it’s in your backyard, at a local county park or at one of our many Wisconsin State Park System properties. Download the current kit then head outside to have some fun.
Share The Fun
Share The Fun! Share photos of your crafts, snacks, journal pages and your exploration finds (and check out what others are doing, too) by using #OutWiGo on social media.

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
