Nice View! So this is cool. Our friends over at the Inn at Wawanissee Point…
Video – The winter of 2019/2020 passes in this animated collection of stills from one of our Devil’s Lake State Park Critter Cams. In this short 1 minute clip you’ll watch as the parks wildlife and park users pass throughout the fall and winter.
How Do People Use The Park?
The camera featured in this video is located far from general public areas. It’s a haul to get out there. There are no nearby roads or trails. And yet, as you can see there are a good number of people in the video. Both hikers and hunters pass. It’s surprisingly busy! I wonder if the folks working on the park’s updated “Master Plan” take this into account? My feeling is that many do not realize how busy the whole park actually is. As a growing number of people hike, trap, and hunt deeper into the park’s limited wilderness, you must wonder what impact this has on the land, the wildlife, the forest? (Especially when you see the amount of garbage in some areas!) I personally believe it’s important to protect wild spaces in the park. And yet, we need to make sure these wilds spaces and the animals who live there are not abused along the way. Something to ponder this #WildlifeWednesday…

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.

Thanks for posting these videos, Derrick. Most of us don’t have the time or gumption to wander far afield to put out our own critter cams. I get a lot of pleasure watching your vids and am sure others do too.
Thanks Ken!
