The summer crowd is still hanging around... Autumn is getting later. It's easy to see…
Yep, it’s April 14th and we’re still under “SaferAtHome status here in Wisconsin. Well, here’s another opportunity to bring some local nature into your home. This 30-minute, foggy, April morning video comes from Mirror Lake State Park near public boat access to Dell creek. (Totally legit!). Here is the YouTube link.
For this “Slow TV” style video I did my best to focus the sound on picking up the birds on and around the lake. While the Canada geese are the loudmouths of the day, you’ll be able to hear a large number of native and migratory birds on and around the water. If you can, I always encourage you to watch the video on your big screen for the best experience. We’d love to see your list of bird IDs in the comments here or on YouTube. Relax. Have Fun. We’re all in this together!

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
