The summer crowd is still hanging around... Autumn is getting later. It's easy to see…
Let’s take a break from all the coronavirus talk today, and check in on our Critter Cams. Can you guess what this critter is?
Our cameras around the park have been pretty quiet recently. We’ve seen a few deer here and there and a couple of coyotes. The most fun though has come from this camera where in addition to our “mystery critter” we had everything from robins to turkey and coyotes.
This camera is set to take 3 still images when it is triggered and it caught our mystery critter 2 times. Once and night and once during the day. You’ll want to look carefully at the tail, the body shape and color to help you. Size is important too. This is why I created a composite blending 3 images captured by this camera so that you can compare the sizes of a turkey, a squirrel, and the mystery animal. (Below) So, what do you think it is?
For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.

My guess for that critter is a fisher (weasel)
That’s my wife’s guest too, and she’s a wildlife person.
