Downtown Baraboo

Most of us are being affected in one way or another by the recent shutdowns and “social distancing” related to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The upside for outdoor lovers is that we can still “opt outside.” Good for the soul! But with that said, while we’re social distancing, many local small business owners are understandably concerned about what their future holds. Well, even if we’re not going “indoors” just now, we can still support our favorite small businesses in the meantime by ordering products online, buying gift certificates and here in Baraboo, purchasing chamber bucks now for future use once the current situation has passed.

Shop Online, Purchase Gift Certificates

Most local businesses from wineries and restaurants to climbing instructors and bike shops sell products online or offer gift certificates. Theatres to retail shops, you name it, just visit your favorite local business’s website and look for the links.

Make Reservations Now!

If you’re planning to visit the Devil’s Lake State Park area later in the summer you should always make your reservations early. Well, now you have one more reason to reserve campsites, yurts, rooms, cabins, and vacation homes early!

Chamber Bucks

Here in Baraboo, our local chamber of commerce offers “Chamber Bucks” which can be used at many member businesses at any time. This again helps put money into our local economy right now. Learn more here.

Delivery, Curbside Service

We’re not going to tell you to ignore CORVID and “party down” like some are doing. I have elderly relatives and friends with compromised immune systems too. But what you CAN do is order delivery if it’s available and take advantage of drive-up and curbside services where offered. At least 2 Downtown Baraboo businesses, Little Village Cafe & Von Klaus Winery are offering curbside services as of today. I’ll certainly let you know when we hear about more “curbside” services locally. Update: Glacier Rock Restaurant is now offering curbside pickup as well.

Send A Nice Note!

Look, sometimes it’s not about the money. You can also support your favorite local business owners and staff with a quick email or note on their social media pages. Let them know you’re thinking about them. Maybe ask how you can help them directly. Let them know that you’ll be visiting them as soon as things quiet down. Just offer your sincere support. We often get wrapped up in money, but the truth is, this stressful time is also about concern for friends, family, and neighbors. Just knowing folks care is valuable too.

Elbow Bumps All Around!

Hey, that person in the window selling tickets at Devil’s Lake…, cashiers, stockers, cleaners, waitstaff… medical folks, Lots of people are out there working anyway. They often have no option. Thank them in person when you’re out.

Be Well

And remember, we’re thinking about all of you too. Take care of yourself and your family. Make good choices, social distance away, and we’ll see you soon!
