As autumn settles into Devil's Lake State Park and the surrounding Sauk County area, we're…
What great weekend weather we had! I hope everyone got out to enjoy it! We also recognize that for many reasons some folks simply can’t get out and hike around the bluffs as they’d wish. This is why I’ve begun to upload 10 minute (or more) video hikes on our Youtube channel. Pop ’em up on your big screen and it’s almost like being there. 😉
This time around, you’re joining me for my last 10 minutes hiking down Devil’s Lake State Park’s south bluff. [https://youtu.be/o9-jGXIsYE8] Without trails, hiking or in this case, snowshoeing, the bluff through the forest and rocky, talus fields can be tricky at any time, especially while trying to capture video. See if you can catch where I fell! The gimble covered it up pretty well I think!

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
