Fall Photo Hike At Devil’s Lake
Saturday, Oct 19th from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm What better excuse to get outside than to go on a hike to take pictures! This will be an informal hike with a chance to get out and take pictures of Devil’s Lake in fall. This hike is a good one for amateur photographers or photographers who would like to help others take better pictures.
We will start at Steinke basin, heading up the rescue road to the top of the east bluff. Since we will be hiking near dusk, hopefully, we’ll get a beautiful sunset to take pictures of from on top of the bluff.
Be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp with you since we’ll be hiking back down at twilight. This will be about a 2-mile hike with some rugged/difficult terrain, but not too steep of hills. It can get chilly on top of the bluff, so make sure to dress in layers and bring water with you.

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
