Just like at Devil’s Lake State Park, kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up board popularity has been growing at Mirror Lake State Park as well. Mirror Lake’s many protected sandstone gorges are perfect for exploring often when it’s too windy to paddle elsewhere.
This 13+ minute video offers a somewhat “Slow TV” like experience as we show you around the lake. I recommend opening it up on YouTube full screen or on your TV and just chilling as we paddle around.
If you’d like to learn more about paddling at Mirror Lake State Park and around the area, start right here, we’ve got a lot of information for you.
Mirror Lake Kayak Tour
Get out your calendar! Mirror Lake State Park will be hosting a kayak tour on Saturday, August 17th from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Please pre-register with the park office as there is a group size limit 608-254-2333. You will take a 90-minute tour of the lake and shoreline to discover what lives in the water, in the air, and in the woods. Learn about the human history of Mirror Lake, from a time gone by and before the Lake was a designated park.
Tour Notes: Meet at the Mirror Lake boat landing near the rentals. (Look for the naturalist flag) In the event of light rain, we will still go out. Heavy rain and/or lightning the event will be canceled. If you need to rent a kayak, you may do so at the Mirror Lake Rentals at the boat landing. Please plan to arrive early to secure your rental prior to the departure time of 10:00 am.
For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
